Thomas Morstead the punter for the New Orleans Saints is a supporter of the upcoming Golf Tournament and Family Event for Kidd’s Kids on July 19 at Timberlane Country Club.

His public relations rep, Dennis Lomonaco, said that although Morstead will be on his way to West Virginia for the Saints’ training camp and will not be able to attend the event, he is sending giveaways and will certainly be there in spirit.

All indications are that the fourth annual Kidd’s Kids fundraiser in Gretna will be a booming success. The charity, started by the late Kidd Kraddick, host of the popular Dallas-based “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” show, still aired locally on B-97, provides free trips to Disney World for chronically and termially ill children.

According to event founders and coordinators, Mindi and Charles “Chuck” Hartzog, non-golfer spots are still open, which allow for participation in the Family Event.

“Cost for non-golfers to attend the family affair from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. is $25 for adults and $5 for children, 3 to 17. Besides food included, activities include swimming, water slides, archery, rock wall, mini putt-putt, face painting, gaming truck, photo booth, casting demonstration, sharpee tattoos and pictures with princesses and superheroes,” Mindi Hartzog said.

Local supporters include Gretna artists Terrence Osborne and Christy Works Boutte and Brock Boutte, children’s book author.

“The Bouttes will be doing a reading between 2 and 3 o’clock. Entertaining will be the Pocket Aces Brass Band, 5-Star & T-Bone, Chicken on the Bone and Michael Liuzza & Co. Major prizes for the drawings include Southwest Airline tickets for two, Windsor Court two-night hotel stay and a golf foursome at the Preserve Golf Course in Mississippi,” she said.

The event will memorialize nationally syndicated morning show personality Kraddick, who died unexpectedly of heart disease at the third annual event in Gretna. Kidd Kraddick Morning Show personalitie Big Al, Jenna Owens, J-Si and Kellie Rasberry will be there to entertain and meet fans.

Gretna Mayor Belinda Constant said, “We are excited to have Timberlane Country Club as the host of Kidd’s Kids fundraiser for the second year. While we all remain saddened by the passing of Kidd Kraddick at the event last year, we are happy to assist in carrying out his mission and support his foundation in the City of Gretna.”

State Rep. Bryan Adams is serving as honorary chair of the event.
